Houston Facials: Want Beautiful Skin? Here’s 6 Ways To Prepare For A Facial
Planning Ahead For your Facial Will Help Yield The Best Results.
By Tyler Rhodes
Just like a boy scout you must plan ahead, especially when it comes to getting the best benefits from a facial.
If you’ve never in your life had a facial, there are certain things you should know. Sure, you can just stroll in to your spa appointment willy-nilly but preparation is key to a much better experience! Here’s six important tips to help your get the best results.
- Don’t sunbath prior to getting a facial.
Many of us want that beautiful golden glow to our skin but if your skin is irritated and sunburned, the experience will not be a pleasant one. Be sure to stay out of the sun at least a week before your trip to the spa. If you happen to get a sunburn on your face schedule a Sunburn Remedy Facial to take care of that damaged skin.
- Show up looking like you do everyday.
Follow your regular daily skin care routine, whatever that may be. Coming in with or without makeup is fine as long as it’s how you normally look. Do not prepare your skin excessively or they won’t be able to see the oil or hydration levels in your skin. This will help the aesthetician get the best view of you skin to decide what treatment is needed.
- Know what products you’re currently using and your skin care concerns.
A good spa will ask you about these. If you need to write all your products down on a list or even bring them in that’s fine. Remember, these are skin care experts and they’ll be able to tell you what products you should or should not be using depending on what type of skin you have and your skincare goals. Also, don’t forget to tell them about any specific issues your having such as dryness, dullness, or an oily complexion. This will ensure you get a facial tailor made just for you and you’ll get the best results.
- No waxing or shaving
You may think it’d be a good idea to do this right before your appointment but it’s not. Waxing can often leave skin red and irritated for a few days and getting a facial could compound those effects. It’s best to wait 24 to 48 hours after waxing to give your skin a bit of a rest before doing anything more to it. Men, if you must shave then do it the night before a morning facial, and shave in the morning if you have an evening facial. Shaving is a form of exfoliation and you want to give your skin some time to recover before doing anything more to it.
- Time your facial if you are going to a big event or special meeting.
If you have something big going on schedule your facial far enough in advance to make sure you look your best. Be sure to tell the spa when you make your appointment when the event is and ask for how far in advance you should come in. Remind your aesthetician of this when you arrive. This is important because certain types of facials will need to be avoided right before an event and others will be fine. This way you’re guaranteed to show up glowing, looking like a star!
- Avoid using exfoliants.
Just in case you don’t know what exfoliating is, it’s using a scrub or mild acid used to remove the dead skin cells of your face. This reveals brighter, fresher skin. While doing this regularly is a good idea to maintain a nice healthy glow, it’s not a good idea to do this right before getting a facial. It could over irritate the skin so avoid using scrubs, acids, or retinols at least 4 days prior to your appointment. For all you scrub happy folks, no worries, most facials involve some sort of exfoliating treatment included with the service so you won’t be missing out.
If you’ve never had one, a facial is one of the best ways to make sure your skin stay in tip-top condition. They help clear clogged pores, hydrate, and smooth skin leaving you feeling like a newborn child. Now that you’re well prepared, it’s time to get out of that old face and into a new one, with a facial!
